Anyways, I feel like posting another poem. This one was written for yet another competition, I didn't win but got special mention. That was good enough for me as it was written on a school trip to Italy in May and I was ill for the majority of it. But it was supposed to capture the feel of Verona and I remember the teachers saying deep and compassionate...... or something along those lines.
If I can remember where I put the photos of that trip I'll try on post them up.
Anyway here's the poem.
In Verona, city of dreams and love,
Across my path came two turtle doves.
Many hearts beat and thought it sweet.
But deep sorrow inmy heart lay,
They don't understand what you have to pay.
Love can be sweet,
Two lovers meet.
But the sweetness of the heart,
Can be easily torn apart.
Yes, I know of love and pain,
Now I have lost my most beautiful gain.
Verona, city of beginning and end.
A beautiful city,
For my first love send.
The city where my soul's other half,
Came across my own lonely path.
Two people meet,
And life was sweet.
My very own angel, a true romance,
It was a tango, a passionate dance.
I'd found my love, my new obsession,
But my future was full of depression.
My heart was complete, no missing piece,
I had no idea what was coming up,
Something I expected least.
The guy had no idea, while he was flying high,
Because the path he chose to lead,
My love would have to die.
I walk in the moonlight,
In the dead of night.
I wallow in my sadness.
I find it hard to remember,
When my life wasn't a mess.
A shadow crossed my path,
A shadow of a dove.
No.
Wait.
A shadow of my love.
My angel standing there,
Hair silky, forever fair.
Not one of my best for rhyming and rhythm but I love the content. I hope you liked it.

Well we visited Verona and we went and saw Juliet's balcony. I've never been a major fan of that particular play but yes I suppose it was!
